The graduate programs at the Department of Physical Education of Tsinghua University include a first-level discipline in Physical Education at both doctoral and master's levels, and a Master of Physical Education professional degree with two concentrations: Sport Management and Winter Olympic Games Management. The doctoral program in Physical Education was authorized in 2003 and began enrolling doctoral students in 2005. The master's program in Physical Education was authorized in 1998 and began enrolling master's students in 2005. The Master of Physical Education professional degree was authorized in 2005. The department began enrolling students in the Sport Management (full-time) concentration in 2017. Starting in 2018, it has enrolled three cohorts in the Winter Olympic Games Management concentration (a special program approved by the Ministry of Education and the only part-time master's program of its kind in China).

As of early 2021, there were 230 current graduate students, including 41 doctoral students in Physical Education, 32 master's students in Physical Education, and 157 Master of Physical Education students (including 120 in the Winter Olympic Games Management concentration). The scale of the programs and the discipline's influence are continuously expanding.
